Planning permission has been successfully secured for the change of use of a town centre property from a Class E retail premises to provide a new craft beer taproom. The taproom, to be operated by local brewery Bestens, will introduce a modern hospitality venue to the town centre. D&M Planning successfully demonstrated to the Council that such a venue would not impact on the amenity of local residents and that the change of use would bring vibrancy and foot fall to the town, benefiting the wider retail use. This was despite the proposal being contrary to the local plan policies. D&M Planning have had numerous successes for similar projects aimed at revitalising the high street or introducing change of uses contrary to policies.
